School Age Projects

So among the couple of jobs that I have going on, one is teaching Saturday art classes to children.  I thought this along with my professional work should be a good place to share it and get feedback on other art.

Children's Character Design
I had the children first think of a character, then name some of its attributes:  Was it a mean character? How old is the character? I had them draw the character in pencil and rip tissue paper blocking out color. They finished by going over their pencil lines with sharpies. Ripping the tissue paper helped them become loose and less restrictive when choosing what colors they wanted their character to have.

Abstract tape strips
In this piece I had the children put painters tape down on constructions paper and then let them paint a design with only three colors before peeling the tape off.  Next time I will use a more durable paper like water color sheets because the tape somewhat took off some of the paper.
koi fish bubble prints
After making the koi fish the children blew bubbles in a tray and then added liquid watercolor on top of the bubbles and gently laid their paper over the bubbles.  The outcome were some pretty cool bubble prints.
